Fertility Scan in Kolkata

What is a Fertility Scan?

Fertility scans are non-invasive ultrasound procedures that examine the female reproductive organs. This scan allows us to inspect the uterus, ovaries and fallopian tubes. Through this scan, doctors can identify any potential issues that may affect fertility.

As a leading fertility scan clinic in Kolkata, Fetomat Wellness uses advanced imaging technology to diagnose follicle development, endometrial thickness and structural abnormalities that might cause barriers to conception.

Types of Fertility Scans

Z

Dimensional Transvaginal Ultrasound

This is the most effective scan to examine female reproductive organs. A small probe is inserted into the vagina to provide detailed images of the pelvic organs.

Z

Pelvic Ultrasound (Transabdominal)

Doctors place a probe on the abdomen in this scan. The results are less detailed than a transvaginal ultrasound but can still provide valuable details. Usually, both Transabdominal and Transvaginal scans are combined for the most effective assessment.
Z

Antral Follicle Count (AFC)

This specific type of ultrasound assesses the number of small follicles in the ovaries, which can indicate ovarian reserve.

Z

Saline Infusion Sonography (SIS)

Uses sterile fluid to detect uterine cavity abnormalities.
Z

HyCoSy Scan

HyCoSy Scan, or Hysterosalpingo Contrast Sonography, evaluates fallopian tube patency (whether they are open or blocked).

    Fertility Scan Process

The process is generally quick, simple and painless.

    1. For a transvaginal ultrasound, you will be asked to empty your bladder.

    2. A probe is inserted to capture detailed images of the uterus and ovaries.
    3. For a pelvic ultrasound, a gel is applied to the abdomen, and the probe is moved across the skin.
    4. Then a very fine plastic catheter is inserted into the uterus through vagina to perform Saline Infusion Sonography and HyCoSy.
    5. The process takes about 10–15 minutes.

    6. Usually, it is done between Day 5 and 10 of the cycle.

    7. A fertility specialist reviews the results for further medical advice.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Is a fertility scan painful?

Generally not. The pelvic abdominal ultrasound is entirely painless. The transvaginal ultrasound may cause mild discomfort, but it is not painful. The best time to do such a scan is between Day 5-10 of the period

Can a fertility scan detect blocked fallopian tubes?

While a standard fertility scan can provide hints, a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) is the ultimate test to identify blocked fallopian tubes.

How long does a fertility scan take?

The scan itself typically takes between 10 and 15 minutes.

Will I get the results immediately?
